- "NEW - MODEL" or "NEW MODEL" is marked on the barrel below the manufacturer's designation. Examples exist with no model markings.
- approximately 122,000 were produced between 1863 and 1875.
- features include: blued octagonal barrel and receiver/frame; brass trigger guard; walnut grip panels; single action trigger mechanism; barrel threads visible at the breech; safety notches on cylinder between nipples; webbed loading lever; fixed front and notched rear sights.
- "E.REMINGTON & SONS" is marked on the top of the barrel.
- serial number is marked on the left grip frame under the grip panel and is repeated on the bottom of the barrel.
