Lot 838 High Standard Model E .22 LR #55969

American made vintage blowback-operated single-action semi-automatic target pistol chambered in .22 Long Rifle, manufactured circa 1940 in New Haven, CT. Approximately 2,600 of this type was produced. Pistol features a blued finish, a 4-1/2" heavy bull barrel, fixed serrated blade front sight, windage adjustable square notched rear sight, serrated curved trigger, internal hammer, checkered slide stop lever on the right side of the frame, knurled type II take-down lever on the right side of the slide, smooth grip straps, serrated heel magazine release, 10 round magazines, and replacement two-piece checkered walnut grips. The original blued finish retained is approximately 95% showing edge wear, and scattered light scratches. Metal displays no deformation, but does have a small amount of rust at the muzzle where the finish wore off, and a few other small scattered spots. Action is smooth and crisp, and the wood grips are very good with a some low spots on the checkering, and wear along the bottom edges. The bore is bright with strong rifling. This pistol would be excellent without the observed rust.
