Lot 108 1838 N-4 R2 PCGS graded MS64 Brown
1838 N-4 R2 PCGS graded MS64 BrownFrosty light chocolate and bluish steel brown with traces of faded mint red on both sides. Only trivial marks including a few ticks on the bottom edge of the bust, a few more on the front edge of the neck, and a tiny nick right of the upper lip. A spot of lighter tan toning connecting star 13 to the curl above is a good identifying mark. EDS, die state a, before any die cracks on the obverse. Called MS60 and tied for C#16 in the Noyes census, his photo #35895. Our grade is MS60. This was one of Ted Naftzger's earliest purchases of a large cent, a relatively modest piece considering the eventual quality of his collection, but he never let it go.Certificate Number: 37189.64/13093931Pedigree: Ex K.
