Lot 61 1835 N-10 R4+ Head of 1834, Small 8 & Stars, PCGS graded AU58

1835 N-10 R4+ Head of 1834, Small 8 & Stars, PCGS graded AU58Glossy chocolate and light olive brown delicately woodgrained with lighter medium brown on the obverse. Traces of faded mint red show in protected areas on the reverse. The surfaces are smooth with only trivial contact marks. A tiny, very thin nick off the upper left point of star 8 is the best identifying mark. Early die state, die state a. The die crack from the brow lock up toward star 6 is faint and reaches only up to even with the top of the coronet, and the die crack at UNITED ST is light. In addition, the high grade of this example allows you to see that the E in CENT was first punched upside down, then corrected, with bold remnants of the inverted E clearly visible. Called AU50 and CC#1 by 10 points over the nest finest in the Noyes census, his photo #20863. Bland says AU50 as well but finest by a whopping 20 points in his census. Our grade is AU50.Certificate Number: 37090.58/13080217Pedigree: Ex J. Paul Scheetz 8/1976 (as "A-3")-Del Bland 6/2/1977-R. E.
