Antique Marlin Model 38 Standard 1878 First Variation Tip-Up Spur Trigger Revolver, #409, .38 S&W cal., 3.25'' barrel, nickel finish, checkered black two-piece hard rubber Marlin ''JMM'' grips, blade front and fixed ''V''-notch rear sights. Matching numbers on rear of the barrel assembly, rear face of the cylinder, and on the buttstrap. Barrel address is correctly marked on the left side of the barrel. Top of the barrel is marked ''38 STANDARD 1878''. Mfg'd circa 1878-87. Condition is very good, displaying approx. 40% nickel finish, with the balance gone to a pleasing gray patina. Grips are fine, showing moderate handling wear. Action is crisp. Bore is good with clearly defined rifling, and a few spots of light erosion. Est.: $200-$300. (Antique)
