U.S. Colt Single Action Army Artillery Model Revolver, #120503, .45 Colt cal., 5.5'' barrel, blue and case hardened finish, smooth walnut grips, blade front, and fixed ''V''-notch rear sight. Barrel address is marked in one-line ''COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO HARTFORD CT, U.S.A.''. Numbered ''120503'' on the frame with ''D.F.C.'' (David F. Clark) inspection mark above. Trigger guard is number ''95152''; ''50423'' on the butt; ''7056'' on the barrel, and ''529'' on the cylinder. Back of the cylinder is marked ''3'', ''K'', and an ''S''. Loading gate with assembly number ''2404''. Lower left side of the frame is marked with three-line patent date and ''U.S''; ''P'' and ''R.A.C'' (Rinaldo A. Carr) on the underside of the barrel; ''G'' on the hammer well of the frame and beneath the trigger guard serial number. Right grips is marked ''1903'' over ''R.A.C'' cartouche; ''R.A.C.'' on the bottom of both grip panels. Frame Mfg'd 1874. Condition is fine, retaining approx. 90% bright blue finish, showing light scratches and handling marks; primarily to the cylinder, front and backstrap. Muzzle and edgewear accounts for most the finish loss. Frame retains approx. 50% muted case colors. Factory lettering and inspector's marks are clear; except for serial number on the trigger guard, which is light. Grips with pleasing grain patterns, displaying signs of moderate age and wear; cartouche on the right side is worn but visible; initials on the bottom are sharp. Action is crisp with all four clicks.
