Stevens Antique 1885 circa Tip Up Shotgun 12 ga - Made in USA

Here is a shotgun that is seldom found. The J.Stevens barrel address indicates it was made no later
than 1886.From 1870,s to 1896,this was one of the popular American made shotguns.

As photos show every thing is complete.

It has the 3.5 inch octagonal breech section marked with J Stevens A&T Co Chicopee Falls, Mass.
on the top flat. Distinctive step-down frame has a central hammer and a trigger guard with a rear
finger grip. Bluing is long gone and the entire gun has a brown antique patina.

Walnut buttstock has no buttplate. The stock is sound and smooth and has minimal marks considering its age..

Matching serial number is 12595.

Barrel hinge and lockup are quite loose but hammer sring is very good and tight.
The bore shows overall wear and is dark.. The barrel does not lock up tight.
Even though this is a fluid steel barrel gun,it is not safe to shoot this firearm..
