Very fine Mannlicher-Schoenauer mod. 1903 rifle, made in 1927 by Osterreichischen Waffenfabrik Gesellschaft Steyr for the English market and modified to the British taste.

This model is fitted with a 22.5 inch barrel equipped with a two leaf wide V express rear sight regulated on the traditional German front sight. Serial numbers match on Bolt & Receiver.

There is an excellent adjustable single stage trigger.

This rifle is built in the take-down or detachable stock form, an ingenious take apart system that
preserves the original headspace while reducing the length of the assembly to that of the barreled
receiver only.

The European walnut stock has a shortened forend and a more upright grip, a remarkably well
executed modification, and it shows a 14.25 inch LOP measured on the ribbed steel butt plate.
This butt plate has a trap door that accesses 3 small compartments - suitable for cleaning rods or
other equipment.
This Mannlicher-Schonauer weighs 7lb 1oz.

The state of conservation of the whole set is remarkable, with a perfect bore and a ultra smooth
operation set into beautifully granied high grade wood. This stock is a 99% beauty. Does have a few
compressions where Take Down mechanizm is located at front of stock.
Ther metal finishes of the gun show a little wear with some loss on hard edges.

All in all a fine collector gun ..
