SN: 7319. "Sharpshooter" Antique Swiss military tube-fed bolt action rimfire service rifle. Sharpshooter" refers to the Vetterli Model 1871 Stutzer rifle, a specific variant of the Swiss service rifle manufactured in Bern and designed for use by military sharpshooter (Scharfschützen) companies. Marked "MW" for 'Montierwerkstätte, Bern'. Features a blued finish, shorter 31" barrel, blade front sight, elevation adjustable rear sight, adjustable double-set trigger, 13-rd tubular magazine under barrel, smooth trigger, finger rest trigger guard, cocked indicator on the rear if the bolt, cleaning rod, straight grip shoulder stock with smooth "Swiss" metal buttplate and cross hatching on forend. Matching serial numbers are found on the barrel, receiver, bolt handle and lifter. Crown over "B" inspection cartouches on right forearm & butt stock inspection and acceptance marking, "D5 C1 cartouche with Swiss cross in between in comb. Blue is about 45% with the receiver/triggerguard in the white from handling, action is smooth, the wood is good/sound with scratches/dents and the bore is excellent/bright.
