Lot 1092 DWM / CAI Argentino 1909 7.65x53mm #P5188

This is a 1909 pattern large-ring Mauser bolt-action rifle, manufactured by Deutsche Waffen-und Munitions (DWM), Berlin, on contract for Argentina, before import by CAI. This rifle features a 29” barrel. The receiver bears the Argentine crest, with the manufacturer’s mark, and “Mauser Modelo Argentino 1909.” The bolt bears a matching SN and ‘Phrygian Cap’ (Cap) markings on the handle, and safety shroud. Cap markings can also be found on the front sight ramp, bolt release, floor plate, and guard. An additional DWM marking can be found forward of the SN. A Naval Anchor is stamped on the front of the tangent rear sight. The finish is approximately 80%, showing worn finish around the front sight, bayonet lug, barrel, barrel bands, floor plate, guard and sling swivels. There is light oxidation present on the bolt knob and front sight band, with browned patina in other areas cause by dried packing grease. It bears numerous small depressions and scratches with no visible surface hairline cracking. The bore is well worn and no longer has sharp rifling.
