Lot 1065 Steyr / CAI M95/34 8x56Rmm #9048L
This is a straight-pull Austro-Hungarian model 1895 Cavalry Carbine featuring the Wn Eagle 16 stamp an matching S/N on the barrel denoting acceptance into Imperial service in 1916 with a larger ‘S’ stamp denoting rechambering to 8x56R and reacceptance into service in the 1930’s. The 19.7” barrel is stamped CAI ST ALB VT M95/34 AUSTRIA 8x56R. The rifle is heavily coated in remnant cosmoline. Very minor visible oxidation on the bolt handle with some marring evident on the slotted assembly screws and lighted scratching and indentions on the butt-plate. Stock does have multiple dents and numbers stamped, 1959 on the right face and 6146A on the left. A period repair has also been done on the right side of the buttstock. The bolt matches the S/N of the receiver, and was etched via electro-pen, which was typical as bolts were matched during assembly. En-Bloc clip is NOT included. Bore is excellent. Retains 95% of finish. Stock is in good condition. Numbers on receiver, barrel and bolt are matching. Markings are of inconsistent clarity.
