Lot 1059 Chinese / N.A. Co Type 53 7.62x54R #3066823

This is a sporterized Chinese Type 53 bolt-action rifle in 7.92x54R. It is a post WW2 era copy of the Russian M44 Nagant rifle. The rifle was manufactured in 1955 in factory #26. The rifle was later imported by Navy Arms Co. (stamped on receiver) prior to modification. The rifle maintains approximately 50% of its finish, markings are crisp, with the exception of proofings, which were not evenly stamped from the factory. The stock has been cut, forward of the rear barrel band. Subsequently, the upper handguard has also been removed. The stock shows use of wood fillers and glue as a result of removed stock hardware and crack filling. There is a crack, on the right side of the stock coming off of the rear right side of the receiver tang, that wraps down and up the right side of the stock. This crack is partially filled. A second crack has formed on the bottom of the stock behind the guard on the left and is making its way to where the rear sling stud was. This crack appears unaddressed. The bayonet has been removed from the rifle. The trigger spring and bolt catch (1 piece) is broken, but included with the rifle. A repair has been attempted on the part. Bore is crisp.
