Lot 1058 Koshikawa Type 38 6.5mm Jap #1806992
This is rifle is an Ariksaka Type 38, Model of 1905 bolt-action rifle in 6.5 Japanese. The rifle was manufactured by the Koshikawa Arsenal (Tokyo) in the 1930’s. The rifle shows light oxidation and light pitting across its exposed surfaces from the muzzle to the butt plate. Non-visible surfaces have been very well preserved and the finish has been maintained by remnant cosmoline. The chrysanthemum has been ground off the receiver, which was typical of surrendered rifles. The rifle is missing its front and rear guard screws, as well as the floor plate, follower spring, and follower. The stock has various dents, depressions and heavy scratching, with a small section broken off at the front right of the receiver and what appears to be dried epoxy dripped onto the butt, but is in serviceable condition. The upper hanguard is split all the way through, but maintained by upper barrel guide. Retains approximately 70% of finish. Stock is in serviceable condition. Remaining markings are crisp and bore is in fine condition.
