Vintage lever-action saddle ring carbine chambered in .25-36, a Marlin calibre based on the .32-40 Marlin Ballard case. Manufactured around 1918, during World War I. The top barrel flat is marked with the two-line address/patent dates ahead of the rear sight "SPECIAL SMOKELESS STEEL", behind the rear sight is ".25-36 M." on top at the breech. The top of the receiver is marked "MARLIN SAFETY", "MARLIN/1893" on the upper tang and the serial number is on the underside of the receiver. Equipped with a full length tube magazine. Blue finish and magazine mounted with a smooth walnut forearm with a steel end cap and straight grip stock with factory checkered hard rubber buttplate. 20" round barrel with modified sheet metal squared blade, rear sight removed, steel insert in dovetail, vintage Marble peep sight installed on tang, marked "M.S.A. Co. Gladstone, Mich." Original saddle ring. C prefix serial number, manufactured 1918-1919. Bore is good, strong rifling, light frosting in grooves, action is smooth/tight, wood is overall very good/sound with some minor dings/dents and the original blue is about 605 with handling wear/finish loss mostly on the lower barrel & receiver.
