Desirable high quality bolt action sporting rifle chambered in .30-06 Government, manufactured circa 1926, second year of production. The model 54 was Winchester's first bolt action rifle built to handle heavy high-velocity ammunition, production lasted from 1925-1936 with just over 50,000 produced. Features a blued finish, 24" tapered barrel, pinned blade front sight with brass bead top, one standing and one folding leaf rear sight mounted in a dovetail, serrated trigger, blued bolt with turned-down handle & three-position safety on the rear, internal box magazine and checkered walnut pistol grip shoulder stock with schnabel shaped tip, eyelet style sling studs, serrated metal buttplate. Safety positions are opposite of typical Mauser type rifles, "safe" is with flag to left, "fire" with flag to right. Retains 70% finish with mostly dark color bluing, some cleaned patina near muzzle, thinning and bare metal on bottom metal. Stock is very good with handling marks, some scratches and dings..
