WWII era U.S. military contract semi-automatic service rifle chambered in .30 carbine. Manufactured in New Haven, CT circa 1943. This carbine was produced in Winchester's first production serial number block 1,000,000 - 1,349,999. Features a parkerized finish, 18" barrel stamped “W”, (Winchester proof), shrouded blade front sight, adjustable sliding aperture rear sight stamped "I.R. Co", (International Register Co), type 3 band (J.M.Mueller Furnace Co). with the lug marked EM-Q (Quality Hardware Manufacturing Co), Type IV rotary safety, push button magazine release stamped “CC” over "M", (Commercial Controls Corp). 15 round magazine stamped "U", (Union Hardware), blued flat bolt, period green canvas sling, four-rivet handguard with wide groove and smooth walnut pistol grip shoulder stock with high-wood forend, "I" cut oiler slot, knurled metal buttplate, "P" proof cartouche on grip. Rifle retains approximately 80% of its original finish showing contact wear on the bolt & receiver, handling wear, some light pitting on the receiver and some scattered rust tones. The action is mechanically sound, the four land bore is excellent, the markings are sharp and the wood stocks are overall very good with blemishes & a slight hairline crack behind the tang.
