Lot 132 Colt Single Action Army .45 LC #129691

Antique 1st generation Colt single-action army. Manufactured 1889. 4 3/4" barrel with two line address, blade front sight, v-notched rear sight, ejector rod with crescent head, fluted six-shot cylinder, three line patent markings on the frame, screw-in cylinder pin retainer, smooth thin trigger, bordered & underlined knurling on the hammer, and two-piece period ivory grips. Matching serial numbers are found on the frame, trigger guard, and backstrap. Other markings: "45 Cal." on the left triggerguard and assembly number "11" on the loading gate. The action is smooth/crisp, the bore is very good with strong rifling, with a few minor spots of light pitting, the original nickel finish is about 30% with heavy holster/handling wear, the rest turned a brown patina, the barrel address is feint and the ivory grips are overall very good with no chips or cracks, they have a nice mellow patina with age and slight shrinkage. Comes with a period russet cartridge belt with 40 .45 Colt cartridge loops. The cartridge belt is made of folded, russet skirting leather with an iron buckle. The tongue billet, buckle chape and cartridge loops are sewn to the belt body, russet leather double loop tooled holster stamped " P.A. Wilkerson, Buffalo Wyo". Percy A. Wilkerson (1871-1941) started on his saddle making career at the age of 14, serving his first saddlery apprenticeship in Buffalo, Wyo., in 1895. Between the years 1885 and 1930, Percy died in 1941 in Phoenix, AZ.
