Lot 698 Days Prior to OK Corral - Tombstone Rangers Paper

The lot features a very scarce Tombstone Rangers Company A “Resolution” letter dated September 12th, 1881, just a month before the O.K. Corral Shootout; Provenance: From the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum in Tombstone, Arizona. This is a resolution notice of Statement of Intent stating that all money and or funds of this organization shall be deposited with the Pima County Bank, to the credit of Company A. This notice of resolution came prior to the eventful day of Oct. 26, 1881 at the O.K. Corral. The Governor of the Territory of Arizona struggled to keep the Tombstone Rangers funded in 1882 and the organization was disbanded until the establishment of the Arizona Rangers in the 20th century. This organization like the Texas Rangers was first established in 1860's and disbanded due to lack of funding but is steeped in history of fighting lawlessness and Indian raiders. The condition of this Secretary Resolution Notice is well preserved with no obvious signs of damage and shows browning to the pages consistent with the age but otherwise shows a well preserved condition. The measurements of this notice is 9 3/4" x 7 5/8". TTD28
