Lot 642 Blackfeet Piegan Little Dog Painted Drum Glacier
The lot features a stretched hide painted drum from the Blackfeet of Northern Montana, noted as being owned by Little Dog acquired from an estate out fo East Glacier, Montana in 2012. The piece features a wetted and stretched hide / rawhide drum over a wooden round band frame with parfleche rawhide ties on the back. The front shows a yellow painted surface with red circle at the center. Tag indicates that this "Represeting the Sky" and "Keeper of the Bundle" as its meaning. The outside is wrapped in dark blue thick wool trade clothe with various brass metal trade or furniture tacks with a faceted etched design. The back has two tags attached which note this being a Blackfeet Little Dog East Glacier, MT piece collected in 2012. Measures overall 15-inch diameter by 3-inches deep.
