Lot 491 Gem Saloon, El Paso, Texas Gambling Chips & Tokens
Featured in this lot is this Gem Saloon, El Paso, TX gambling chips and tokens circa 19th century; Provenance: From the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum in Tombstone, Arizona. This lot includes a total of six Gem Saloon poker chips and two Gem Saloon tokens one for the cigar store and one for the Saloon. The Gem Saloon is famous for "The Gem Saloon Shooting" which found Wyatt Earp becoming a witness to prove Cahill shot "Buck" Linn in self defense. On another occasion John Wesley Hardin used his pistol to rob a gambling table at the Gem Saloon of the money he lost while gambling there: July 1895 Hardin was fined $25.00 for gaming, relating to the May 1st incident, where he lost and took back $100.00 at the Gem Saloon; his gun was confiscated. The condition of this Gem Saloon gambling collection is good with no obvious signs of damage and shows a good overall condition. The measurements of this collection ranges from 7/8" diameter to 1 1/2" diameter. The collective weight of this lot is 58.4g. T134 - T133 - LO136
