Lot 345 Wyatt Earp & Josie Earp Photos ex-John Gilchriese

The lot features an original large photograph of Wyatt Earp in the 1920’s, as well as a photograph of Josephine Earp; photograph taken by John Flood and from the John Flood collection, John Gilchriese collection and Tombstone Western Heritage Museum collection. The photo comes with a copy of the notarized letter from John Gilchriese in 2001 which notes this as being a photo and (photo from) negatives directly from John Flood, who took the photograph. John Flood was Wyatt Earp’s business partner, personal secretary, confidante and eventually only autobiography writer of Earp’s life. Flood took many photos of Wyatt Earp. This one is a particular interest for as you can see by the date, 8/9/23, that year Wyatt Earp had moved to several new locations. As was his habit, he marked the dates of the negatives for his personal file which became the property of John H. Flood in 1928. The condition of this pair of photographs is well preserved with no obvious signs of damage and shows a well preserved condition. The overall measurements of these photographs is 16 7/8" x 10" for each. The collective weight of these photographs is 1lb 4oz.
