Featured in this lot is this Eskimo Inuit polar bear scrimshaw mammoth tusk. The scrimshaw is wonderfully and professionally crafted mammoth tusk and polished driftwood base construction. The scrimshaw mammoth tusk shows a scene of two polar bears running on the tundra with snow covered mountains in the background and is marked with an unrecognized Inuit Indian signature in the bottom left hand corner as follows: AH. The condition of this scrimshaw petrified mammoth tusk is well preserved with no obvious signs of damage and shows a well preserved condition. The measurements of this scrimshaw is 2 3/8" x 8 1/4" x 2 3/4". The collective weight of this mounted scrimshaw is 6oz.
