Lot 381 Lyman 1860 Army Buffalo Soldiers Black Powder Percussion Revolver
Lyman 1860 Army Buffalo Soldiers Black Powder Percussion Revolver, #40891, .44 cal., 8" barrel, blue finish, smooth hardwood two-piece grips, German silver blade front and "V"-notched hammer rear sight, color case hardened loading lever and hammer, with silver plated straps. Factory markings are clear with "Buffalo Soldiers" engraved in script on the backstrap. Includes a modern hardwood presentation case with maroon baize partition interior, in near excellent condition. Lid displays a 10th Cavalry unit crest, depicting a buffalo with "READY AND FORWARD" on a banner. The case includes a modern brass powder flask, bullet mold, key, and blue steel wrench. Revolver is in excellent overall condition, retaining approx. 98%-99% factory finish, with only light handling marks. Cylinder displays nearly the entire naval scene. Straps show nearly all of the toning silver plate with "011" at the butt. Left side of the barrel is stamped, "K 10 CAV". This corresponds with the backstrap and appears to reference the U.S. 10th Cavalry, often referred to as the "Buffalo Soldiers". Grips are in excellent condition, showing little use. Action is crisp and locks up securely. Bore is mirror bright with excellent rifling and appears unfired. This revolver appears to be a tribute to the 10th Cavalry Buffalo Soldiers. Est.: $600-$800. (No FFL Required) (Michael Strietbeck Collection)
