^Lot 342 Antique U.S. Springfield Armory Model 1896 Krag Bolt Action Carbine

Antique U.S. Springfield Armory Model 1896 Krag Bolt Action Carbine, #60518, .30-40 Krag cal., 22" barrel, blued finish, walnut stock, replacement blade front sight, with M1896 "U"-notched rear rifle sight. Receiver is marked "U.S./MODEL 1896 SPRINGFIELD ARMORY 60518" on the left side. Barrel has marks from being in a longer 1899 style stock at one time. Rifle in in good overall condition. Bluing has gone to mostly patina, with some rust on the receiver and buttplate. Stock has a partial cartouche on the left side and a circled "P" proof behind the trigger guard. Stock shows use, with small pieces of wood missing at front and rear near the receiver. Handguard appears to be an S&S Firearms reproduction. Buttplate door spring is broken. Action works properly. Bore is good, showing moderate wear. Est.: $600-$800. (Antique)
