Lot 27 Remington-Rider Double Action Pocket Revolver

Remington-Rider Double Action Pocket Revolver, #101, .31 cal., 3" octagon barrel, gray patina, checkered two-piece brown hard rubber grips, small cone front sight, and fixed "V"-notched rear sight. Top of the barrel is marked in two-lines "MANUFACTURED BY REMINGTONS ILION, N.Y./RIDERS PT. AUG. 17, 1858 MAY 3, 1859". Matching numbers on left side of the grip frame and underside of the barrel. Approx. 2,000 were manufactured circa 1860-1873. Metal surfaces are good, now smooth gray metal mixed with cloudy light brown patina, and a few areas of mild pitting. Barrel address is legible. Grips are near excellent. Action is crisp. Bore shows intermittent mild erosion; rifling is very good. The Remington-Rider was one of the first double action revolvers produced in large scale in the United States. Est.: $400-$600. (Antique) (Michael Strietbeck Collection)
