Lot 382 Ashanti Akuaba Wood Doll

West Africa, Ghana, Asante / Ashanti peoples Akuaba fertility doll of a female adorned with a thich layer of patination with hanging beads. The skull with a small strant of blue and white glass beads. Neck and waist each with thick beads in tan and red colors. Reverse of the skull carved with an Islamic Akan symbol having three points to either side. 10 1/4" H included on custom stand, 4" W. Provenance: Family collection of an esteemed diplomat and ambassador amassed during travel and work circa 1960-1990s in the medical field providing charitable advanced medical care throughout the African continent and internationally.
