Lot 598 Early Remington UMC Custom Shop Engraved Model 11 Semi-Auto 12 GA Shotgun
Manufactured circa 1920, no date codes found. Features a 27-1/2" blued barrel with a raised nickel bead front sight. Chambered for 2-3/4" shells with a FULL choke. Beautiful floral scroll engraving extends 6" from the action on both sides of the barrel surrounding the Remington UMC two-line address and patent. Over 80% of the receiver surface is covered in engraving including hand cut serial number markings on the underside, and starburst patterns on several screws. Each side of the receiver features a scene surrounded by floral scroll engraving and borders. Left side features a setter in a field scene and the right a duck taking flight from a pond. Top of the receiver features floral scroll engraving with nicely pattern borders that extends to the back and top of the tang. Bottom of trigger guard is engraved with a floral scroll design. Equipped with manual trigger safety. Bottom of the tang is stamped with the Remington UMC circle logo. Nicely figured straight grip walnut stock with hand-checkering on grip, matching trap/skeet style forearm with hand-checkering. Fitted with a black factory Remington UMC logo checkered synthetic butt plate. LOP: 14". DAC: 1-1/2". DAH: 2-1/4". CALIBER: 12 GA. S/N: 142259. FFL STATUS: Curio & Relic.
CONDITION
Retains 85% finish with wear spots on the barrel and high edges of the receiver. Stock shows some minor dings and staining. Forearm has a 1-1/2" crack on the right side near action. Both pieces show crazing in the varnish finish, but both are still solid with good checkering. Excellent bore and good mechanics.
