^Lot 917 U.S. M881 Indian Scout Plumed Helmet.

Rarely seen, this helmet has a 1 piece body with an interior sweatband ink stamped " Wm. H. Horstmann Co., Philadelphia. Contract Nov. 20th 1897" The helmet features a cavalry front plate with silver crossed arrows added to the shield. Side buttons also show crossed arrows. The long plume and the aiguillette are red & white as is correct for an Indian Scout. Condition is excellent inside & out, The felt, leather, horse hair plume, and furniture are all in great shape.
