American made revolver, manufactured circa late-1956 to early-1957, six shot, large square butt N-frame, DA, four screw sideplate with good slots, glossy black finish, approximately 8 3/8" pinned barrel, bore and cylinders are bright, pinned blade front sight on a checkered ramp, adjustable and serrated open notch rear sight, this is the only S&W revolver ever made with a checkered backstrap, top strap and barrel rib, checkered hammer spur, approximately 75% of case hardening remains on the hammer, serrated trigger, approximately 80% of case hardening remains on the trigger, vintage wood grips, light scratches on the frame and cylinder, approximately 95+% of the original finish remains, action is crisp. These revolvers are the post war version of the Registered Magnum and they are made just as nicely, with much attention paid to detail that you just cannot find on the later Smith revolvers. **NRA Excellent** Modern Firearm C&R Eligible
