Finely engraved in near perfect condition - a definate 9 / 10 ..
No visible serial number, circa 1850, with beautiful checkered wood.. No cracks
23.5in. steel side-by-side barrels, the top rib signed SYKES OXFORD along top rib.
Fully engraved broad top-tang with shallow sighting groove, flat curved bevel-edged
dip-tailed border engraved locks signed SYKES, engraved cocks and trigger
guard along to the tail,
Walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist, raised cheek-piece, engraved iron furniture
(rubbed) and captive wood forestock for what appears to be original tamping rod.
Does have two reapired holes under stock - maybe a sling stud hole from way back?
