3’ x 4’ double applique embroidered on blue field, 13 stars and eagle in cloud motif, circa 1960s. While lacking a central device to be placed within the stars, it would seem this is an unfinished U.S. Air Force flag. However, it is not an unfinished USAF color, but rather an unfinished unit color for a specific, and unknown, unit. This is likely the result of a unit being formed but no arms yet assigned to them for their flag. The USAF likely inherited this practice from the US Army, who likewise would issue colors without arms.
