French military Chassepot Infantry rifle, bolt-action, needle fire, breech loading. Manufactured 1872 at the Chatellerault arsenal. 31.3" barrel, military sights, bayonet lug, cleaning rod. Matching serial numbers on barrel, stock and bolt. All marking are clear. 1872 dated cartouche, with "M." wood insert on right buttstock. Action works well, bore is very good/bright with strong rifling. Wood is very good with some scratches/dents. Metal finish is covered with a dark brown patina/surface rust. NRA Condition-Good+ as Antique firearm.
