Lot 102 L.C. Smith Specialty Grade SxS Shotgun
L.C. Smith Specialty Grade Side-by-Side Shotgun, #21763. 12 ga. 30'' nitro-steel barrels have 2-3/4'' chambers and are choked IC/Mod.; right-hand barrel is marked ''L.C. Smith Specialty Grade''; barrels have a concave matted rib with two target beads. Action is reliable L.C. Smith sidelock, with non-auto safety, Hunter One trigger, and auto ejectors. Receiver retains approx. 40%-50% original case color and has correct Specialty Grade engraving of quail on left lock and ducks on right, with scroll engraving on most of the metal balance, including trigger guard and barrel bolsters. Wood is nice walnut; the splinter forend with an ebony insert and the half-pistol grip buttstock with a monogram ''HR'' plate and Pachmayr Whiteline recoil pad. Mfg'd in transition year 1913, therefore an early Specialty Grade example. Condition is excellent, as action functions correctly and there is no significant wear, other than moderate carry wear to action. Buttstock may be a later replacement, but if so was done expertly. Engraving remains sharp, bores are bright. A very nice high grade L.C. Smith that is suitable for skeet or upland game. Est.: $2,000-$2,500. (C&R)
