Lot 766 20BI-4 EARLY BRASS FLARE GUN
18th-19th century naval type flare gun with brass barrel and iron legs and mounts. The tube is ringed and measures 8" in length with approximately 1 1/2" bore. Breech unscrews and flips and the rear area tapped forattachment to rail or pole. Marked "5" and European military in styling but not exactly identified. These were used to set sails on fire as well as signal. Good condition with deep patinas and some pitting on iron mounts. (Antique) Est.: $350-$700
