Winchester Model 1894 Lever Action Rifle, #168660, .32-40 CF cal., blued 26'' round barrel, with dovetailed long bead-blade front and buckhorn rear sights, marked with maker's name, address and 1894 patent date on top, and ''32-40'' at breech; blued tubular magazine; blued receiver is marked ''Model 1894/Winchester/Pat. Aug. 21, 1894'' on upper tang, and serial number at lower front; case hardened loop operating lever and hammer; oil-stained walnut stocks, forend with steel nose cap, buttstock with a steel crescent buttplate. Mfg'd 1899. Condition is very good. Barrel and mag tube show traces of original blue in protected areas, mixing with a smooth blue-brown tone that may have been added later (slight knackering/pitting in barrel address and rear sight areas); receiver and nose cap are gunmetal gray, buttplate pitted with a later gray-brown tone. Stocks are solid with minor handling marks and a later coat of varnish. Action is smooth; bore is clean with pronounced rifling. The Model 1894 has the distinction of continuous manufacture for over 115 years. Est.: $400-$800. (C&R)
