Stevens Favorite No. 17 Single Shot Takedown Boy's Rifle, #452, .32 Long RF cal., blued 22'' part-round part-octagonal barrel, with dovetailed low-blade front and notched rear sights, marked with maker's name, address and 1894 patent date on top flat, and ''32-Long'' at left breech; case hardened receiver has a large takedown thumbscrew underneath, and a serpentine operating lever that opens the dropping-block action with automatic extraction; varnished walnut forestock with semi-Schnabel nose, and matching buttstock having a checkered hard rubber buttplate with ''Stevens Favorite'' in a central ribbon. Mfg'd ca. 1893-1939. Condition is excellent. Barrel retains approx. 98% original blue, receiver with brilliant case colors. Stocks are sound and smooth, with minor handling marks and lovely grain and color; fancy buttplate with crisp checkering and lettering. Blued screw heads are unmarred; action is smooth and sure; bore is bright with sharp rifling. The Favorite offered the convenience of takedown and easily-changed calibers by substituting a different barrel and breechblock. Est.: $300-$500. (C&R)
