Colt Model 1878 ''Frontier'' Double Action Revolver, #42717, .32 WCF (.32-20) cal., 4.75'' barrel, with attached ejector and integral blade front (and long-groove topstrap rear) sights, marked on top with the maker's name and address in two lines, and ''32 W.C.F.'' on left side; 6-shot round long-fluted cylinder is unmarked; solid frame with integral ''bird's head'' gripstraps, and loop triggerguard; checkered two-piece hard rubber grips with the ''Rampant Colt'' logo in an oval panel at top. Mfg'd 1899. Condition is good+. Metal surfaces retain no original finish, but an overall gunmetal gray with scattered discoloration and light erosion; markings are clear. Grips are sound with very worn details but no damage, a couple small nicks at right backstrap, and fit well. Action is smooth in both single- and double-actions; bore is clean with shallow rifling.
