Antique European Flintlock Infantry Musket, NVSN, .69 cal., 42.75'' half round-half octagonal barrel with cannon-turned rings at juncture has a tiny blade front sight (no rear sight) and is marked only with an oval ''ELG'' Li‚ge (Belgian) proofmark at breech; beveled-edge lockplate is unmarked and has a large military-style flint cock, frizzen and spring; brass furniture including fancy sideplate, triggerguard with crown-like front and long rear tangs, buttplate, and four fluted ferrules retaining the iron button-tip ramrod; red-painted hardwood fullstock with a vacant oval brass escutcheon at wrist. Condition is good, the barrel having a deep brown, lightly overall etched finish, the lock being generally smooth gunmetal gray, the brass with an aged patina. Stock is solid retaining approx. 80% paint with a somewhat ''alligatored'' finish. Action is extremely strong; smoothbore shows deep pitting. Est.: $250-$400. (Antique)
