Winchester Model 36 Bolt Action Shotgun, or ''Garden Gun,'' NVSN, 9mm Shot RF cal., 17-3/8'' round barrel with post front sight, marked with maker's name, address and 1899 patent date, ''Model 36 Shotgun/Cal. 9mm Rim Fire'' and ''Winchester/Trade Mark Reg. U.S. Pat. Off. & Fgn.'' on left side; action has auto extraction and knurled ''acorn'' bolt knob; gumwood ''fish-belly'' halfstock has a scrolled sheetmetal triggerguard, large knurled screw retaining action in the stock, and checkered hard rubber buttplate with ''Winchester/Trade Mark'' in a circular sunburst-like cartouche. Mfg'd ca. 1920-27. Condition is good. Metal surfaces are gunmetal gray with scattered rust erosion, and sharp markings. Stock is sound with normal use marks, a 1-1/4'' chip missing from left-rear of receiver, and a later coat of varnish; buttplate shows wear with a right-side scrape obscuring much of the checkering and markings. Action functions; smoothbore is etched overall but clean. Est.: $350-$550. (C&R)
