Antique Marlin Model 1891 2nd Variation Lever Action Rifle, #80553, .32-20 CF cal., blued 24'' octagonal barrel, with dovetailed long German-silver blade front and adjustable open rear sights marked with the maker's name, address and 1878-92 patent dates in two lines on top flat; blued 13-round under-barrel magazine tube; receiver with solid top (marked ''Marlin Safety'') and top-right side ejection port; case hardened hammer, loop operating lever, and crescent buttplate; oil-stained walnut forestock and buttstock. Mfg'd ca. 1891-97. Condition is very good: the barrel with approx. 10% blue on bottom flats, the other steel parts show smooth gunmetal gray with occasional discoloration. Stocks are sound with normal use/handling marks, a 1'' crack at left wrist, and perhaps a later coat of varnish. Action is smooth; bore is clean with distinct rifling. Est.: $400-$600. (Antique)
