Deluxe European (likely German or Swiss) Semi-Schuetzen Single-Shot Sporting Rifle, NVSN, 8.5x46R CF cal., blued 29.25'' teardrop-octagonal barrel, with dovetailed adjustable front sight and no rear sight; barrel unmarked as to maker, has a 6'' raised flat located 4.25'' ahead of breech (doubtless for a clamp-type scope mount), and two blued ferrules underneath (lower with a sling swivel) for a cleaning rod (now missing); case hardened receiver is floral engraved and has an elevated mount for a rear tang sight (now missing), a serpentine operating lever (with external spring catch) that actuates the dropping-block action with automatic extraction, and a rear under-lever that releases the action from the stock; double set triggers; varnished European walnut halfstock is checkered at wrist, has raised aprons on either side of lock, a semi-Schnabel forend tip, carved left-side cheekpiece, sling swivel underneath, and steel buttplate. Condition is near fine. Barrel retains approx. 95% smooth blue, receiver with lovely muted case colors. Stock with use and handling marks, a few dings on cheekpiece, and a 4.25'' grain crack to forend tip. Action is smooth; bore is brilliant with deep rifling. Est.: $800-$1,200. (C&R)
