Antique Winchester Model 1886 Lever Action Rifle, #96077, .40-65 WCF cal., blued 26'' octagonal barrel, with buckhorn style open sights, marked with maker's name and address in two lines on top flat, and ''40-65 W.C.F'' at breech; blued tubular cartridge magazine; case hardened receiver with sliding bolt is marked ''Model 1886'' flanked by dashes on upper tang and serial number on lower; loop operating lever; oil-stained walnut forearm with steel nose cap, matching buttstock with steel crescent buttplate. Mfg'd 1895. Condition is very good. Barrel, mag tube and nose cap retain approx. 75% of what may be an old (and very well done) reblue, with sharp edges and lettering; receiver, hammer, lever and buttplate are mostly silvered out, retaining hints of case colors (the rest blending into a smooth brown patina). Stocks are sound and smooth showing light marks of age and use, and perhaps a light coat of linseed oil or varnish. Action is smooth; bore is clean with deep rifling. Est.: $1,250-$1,850. (Antique)
