^Lot 392 Civil War 1860 Staff & Field Officer's Sword

Civil War Era Model 1860 U.S. Staff & Field Officer's Sword, with etched decorated diamond-shaped blade. The 32.5'' blade has ''U.S.'', American eagle, and military motif decorations. There is no maker's mark on the blade. The clamshell guard and handle fittings have a nice dark uncleaned patina; rear clamshell is folding type and works properly. Hand grip is covered in sharkskin and has a single twisted brass wire wrapping. Knuckle guard bow has a wavy bend in it. Handle is tight to the blade. Scabbard shows a rusted patina to the plated surface, mostly on one side, the other having a more scattered rusted appearance. Est.: $250-$400.
