Contemporary American Fullstock Percussion Kentucky Rifle, by Knetsche, NVSN, .45 cal., 43'' octagonal barrel is marked ''P. Knetsche/Cheraw, S.C.'' in two lines on top flat, dovetailed low-blade German silver front sight and dovetailed notched rear sight; the unmarked percussion lockplate and hammer with sparse engraved decoration; brass furniture including ornately pierced and engraved patchbox with hinged lid, buttplate with engraved lower extension, triggerguard, sideplate and three round ramrod ferrules. Double set triggers. The artificially tiger-striped maple fullstock with carved and incised decoration including raised cheekpiece, inset German silver plate at wrist marked ''1972/PHK'', and large brass nosecap. Condition is excellent, the browned barrel and lockplate retaining all of their original finish, and brass parts with a light patina. Stock is solid, unmarked and with fine coloration and nice semi-gloss finish. Action is tight and crisp; bore appears bright with deep rifling. Est.: $350-$650. (Antique)
