Colt Model 1873 Single Action Army Cartridge Revolver, with target sights, #179226, .44 Spec. CF cal., later 4.75'' round barrel with two-line ''Colt's Pt. F.A. Mfg. Co. / Hartford, CT U.S.A.'' address and ''Colt Single Action Army .44 Special'' on left side, left frame with two-line 1871-72-75 patent dates and ''Rampant Colt'' logo, blued and case hardened finish, steel grip straps with two-piece checkered hard rubber grips with ''Rampant Colt'' logo in oval panel at top. Mfg'd 1898. A composite gun having later barrel, cylinder and sights, with matching serial numbers on the frame, backstrap and triggerguard; loading gate is marked ''387''. Condition is fine as partially refinished, retaining all blue to barrel and cylinder (having a ''Rampant Colt'' logo on rear shoulder and a light drag line) and reblued grip straps; original case hardening to frame and hammer; blued trigger. Grips are good to very good, showing wear to checkering and Colt logo and a chip at left toe. Action is crisp and tight; bore is mirror-bright with sharp rifling. Est.: $900-$1,200. (Antique)
