^Lot 25 Webley ''Bull Dog'' Type Solid Frame Revolver

English ''Bull Dog'' Type Solid Frame Cartridge Revolver, by Webley, #23816, .442 CF cal., 2-3/8'' round barrel marked ''P. Webley & Son'' on top flat and ''London & Birmingham'' on right side, top strap prominently marked ''The British/Bull Dog'', left frame marked ''Webley's/No. 2/442 CF'' in an oval over ''(winged bullet logo)/W&S'' over serial number. Tiny British proofmarks are found over each cylinder bore, on left side of barrel and right side of frame. Originally finished in full nickel plate, with plain ivory two-piece grips. Condition is very good+ retaining approx. 90% original nickel showing minor aging and losses, particularly on left frame ahead of cylinder. Original ivory grips are excellent having tiny stress cracks at screw escutcheons, but otherwise no defects and lovely coloration. Sharp markings, matching serial numbers. Action is smooth and sure; bore is shiny with sharp rifling. Est.: $650-$950. (Antique)
