Civil War Cooper 2nd Model 2nd Variation Double Action Pocket Model Percussion Revolver, #878, .31 cal., 5'' octagonal barrel marked ''Manf'd. by J.M. Cooper & Co., Pittsh, PA, Pat. Jan 7, 1861 / Reis'd. July 26, 1859 Pat Apr 25, 1854 Pat Sept. 4, 1860.'' in two lines; small brass post front sight and hammer notch rear sight, undecorated 5-shot cylinder, steel grip straps with the large triggerguard distinctive to Coopers. Originally blued finish, with one-piece walnut grips. Condition is good to very good with dark toned finish and hints of blue in protected areas of barrel. Grips are very good and fit well with a later coat of varnish. All visible serial numbers match. Action is crisp and tight, bore is dark with visible rifling and should clean. Est.: $500-$650.
