Lot 24 Springfield 1884 Trapdoor .45-70 SN: 491587

Single- shot trapdoor rifle. This is a Model 1884 Springfield infantry rifle that has been sporterized. Metal appears to have been painted black at one time, with traces remaining in recessed areas. Blued finish has faded to almost white. faint U.S. Springfield w/ eagle present on lock plate. 45-70 etched on left side of barrel. Bore is dark and dirty. 3 cock hammer is tight. trapdoor is a little lose. Stock has numerous dings/scratches, with no markings visible. Stock has been cut down with cleaning rod channel visible. Proper adjustable rear sight present. Good parts gun for the trapdoor collector. NRA condition-Poor plus Antique Firearm.
