Mossberg Model 42MB Bolt Action Rifle, #38916, .22 cal., 22.9'' barrel, blued finish, walnut stock, blade front sight and adjustable aperture target rear sight. Marked on barrel ''O.F.MOSSBERG & SONS,INC. NEW HAVEN,CONN.U.S.A 42 MB(C) 22 S-L-LR'', and ''UNITED STATES PROPERTY SERIAL NO. 38916''. Also ''M.192 1947''. Stamped on receiver ''UNITED STATES PROPERTY SERIAL NO.38916''. Rifle was sent to the United Kingdom as a training rifle and when released by the British Gov't was stamped with Birmingham export proofmarks on left side of barrel ''.22LR .610 8 TONS (per square inch)''. Includes two magazines (one in butt trap). The red ''Fire'' indicator is missing from the stock (the green safety indicator is still in place). Condition overall is very good with about 90% finish remaining on metal surfaces with the balance thinning or turned to a brown patina. Stock has applied finish and is in very good condition with overall light scratches, impressions, and some discoloration to the butt.
