U.S. Model 1904 Hospital Corps Bolo, by Springfield Armory, with scabbard, 12'' rounded blade marked ''SA/(FLAMING ORDNANCE BOMB)/1908''; reverse is marked ''US/6066''. Overall length is 17.25'', with ''S''-shaped brass guard, finger grooved wood handle attached by three brass rivets, brass ferrule and finished by a brass button at the tip. Leather scabbard by Rock Island Arsenal and is dated 1914. Condition is fine. Blade with a small amount of light freckling and mild dark spotting near the tip and top edge. Blade markings are clear and well defined. Handle shows a few shallow scratches; rear brass rivet with a hairline crack at both sides. Scabbard shows a little more age and wear than the bolo itself and rates good; hanger has darkened with spots of light pitting. Leather body with general scuffs, scratches, and a few spots of hairline cracking. The maker's stamp is clear. Stitching and seams are tight. Est.: $200-$350.
